Job description

We are recruiting an experienced and enthusiastic Consultant Practitioner Psychologist within the Rehabilitation Division. We are seeking an individual with a background of working into adult mental health and inpatient services with demonstrable experience of leadership and supervision. The successful candidate will be the Lead Psychologist across our High Dependency Units, Open Rehabilitation Units, and our Community Rehabilitation Team. You will be supported by a team of Qualified and Assistant Psychologists and will be responsible for the leadership, supervision and development of the Psychology team and pathways.

You will also be an important part of the Division’s Senior Leadership Team along with other senior management colleagues and will support with leadership and development for the Division as a whole. The role involves some direct clinical work at Braeburn House with individuals experiencing severe and complex mental health problems for whom individualised and creative therapeutic approaches are key. Braeburn House is a 28 bedded all male High Dependency Unit in which you will work alongside another Qualified Psychologist, a full time Assistant Psychologist, and the wider multidisciplinary team (MDT).

You will play a significant role in supporting staff within the Division embedding principles of trauma informed care and a psychologically informed environment. You will support staff teams with formulation-driven approaches, training, facilitation of reflective practice and learning from incidents. In addition, you will be part of the ongoing development of the Division’s referral and trusted assessment processes.

This is also an exciting time to be a part of the Rehabilitation Division as we develop our innovative Community Rehabilitation Team and pathways, supporting timely discharge from hospital and reducing reliance on mental health inpatient units for rehabilitation where appropriate.
