Lead Technician is responsible for performing a wide range of duties on technology projects within Google offices across the EMEA region. This role is pivotal in the field, handling much of the hands-on work required to bring technology systems to life. The Lead Technician collaborates closely with project management, field supervisors, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements, interpret technical drawings, and ensure the successful installation and integration of AV and technology systems. Projects typically involve displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones, equipment racks, and other AV components.
This role requires working independently on client job sites, making decisions with minimal supervision. On smaller projects, the Lead Technician may coordinate directly with clients, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution.
The Lead Technician is often the primary on-site contact, requiring sound judgment when making decisions. Project Managers and Site Supervisors are generally available to provide support and guidance when needed. Strong communication skills and diplomacy are essential for working effectively with clients and other key stakeholders.
This role involves regular exposure to construction site conditions, with employees expected to comply with all safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The position requires spending up to 60% of the time on foot, moving around construction sites, climbing ladders, using stairs, and lifting or moving materials weighing up to 40 pounds. Employees must have the ability to use keyboards, test equipment, and controls required for installation projects. Specific vision abilities needed include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. When not on-site, the role involves standard office conditions, using computers and other office equipment.
Frequent international travel is a core part of the role, so candidates must possess a valid passport and be willing to work away from home for extended periods.
