Role profile:

Are you an experienced data scientist with a passion for productionising AI solutions? Do you want to build innovative solutions for financial markets and professionals by co-developing with teams of brilliant, collaborative data scientists? If so, we'd love to talk to you!

Role summary:

As an individual contributor Lead Data Scientist, you will drive the development of high-impact, scalable AI solutions, moving beyond prototypes to production systems.

We are looking for lead applied data scientist with the proven ability to manage project timelines and deliver high-quality models and code that aligns with business goals.

The successful candidate will combine strong problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to ensure team success.

What you'll be doing:

This role combines hands-on technical leadership with strategic oversight in a high-impact environment focused on innovation and continuous development.

  1. Develop and deploy production-level AI models and data-driven solutions that align with strategic business objectives.
  2. Tune and optimize AI models to improve their accuracy, efficiency and overall fitness for purpose in various applications.
  3. Evaluate third-party AI solutions on both functional and non-functional aspects, assessing their suitability based on performance, scalability, and business needs.
  4. Establish and apply model evaluation and coding standards to maintain production grade code.
  5. Work closely with business and engineering partners to define project requirements and direction, and establish development roadmaps.

What you'll bring:

Essential Skills

  1. Extensive experience applying data science methods to solve real-world problems with a proven track record of deploying AI models and solutions to production.
  2. Strong data analysis skills, with a foundation in probability, to lead robust model development and interpretation.
  3. Proficiency in Object-Oriented programming in Python with expertise in key data science and machine learning libraries (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch and Scikit-Learn).
  4. Expertise in cloud technologies (emphasis on Azure and/or AWS) and deployment practices, ensuring seamless and scalable delivery.
  5. Proven track record to establish and uphold coding standards to ensure high-quality, maintainable code.
  6. Excellent communication skills for summarizing complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical partners.

Desirable skills

  1. Working knowledge of DevOps practices, including code versioning, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring, to streamline development workflows and improve deployment reliability.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics or related field, or equivalent work experience.
