Job description

Lathe Turning & Boring Operator


MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Interpret 2D drawings, specifications, and route card instructions.
  2. Plan and determine machining methods, tools, speeds, feeds, and setups.
  3. Perform dimensional inspection and layout “mark off” prior to machining.
  4. Operate machines manually and perform basic programming using Siemens controls.
  5. Inspect components during machining and adjust as needed to meet quality standards.
  6. Deburr components and ensure they are safe for material movement.
  7. Use overhead cranes (LOLER training provided).
  8. Follow health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  9. Perform other tasks as requested by team leader or manager, within capabilities and safety guidelines.

Hours:
Weekly rotating shift:
Monday-Friday (06:00 - 14:00 working 14:00 - 22:00 the following week)

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Min 2 years' experience in manual lathe turning &/or deep hole boring. (large scale machines preferred)
  2. The ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.
  3. Lifting and slinging capabilities.
  4. A full understanding of Health & Safety and the capability to work safely in a heavy engineering environment.
  5. The capability to understand and follow basic CNC programs (Knowledge/experience of Siemens language preferred)
