Qualifications

  • Experience managing operations in the waste industry, especially landfill.
  • Ability to manage financial aspects and develop strategies for minimal environmental impact.

Location: Whitemoss Landfill, Whitemoss Road South, Skelmersdale, WN8 8TH (Site Based Role)
Hours: 45 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7am - 5pm

What you'll be doing:

  • Work with Facility Manager to plan operational activities on a busy landfill site
  • Control and utilise plant, personnel and resources to ensure efficient and compliant disposal operations
  • Manage all aspects of daily operations at the site including waste processing, transportation, maintenance of equipment, personnel supervision, etc.
  • Management of Operations Team
  • Work with the Sales and Management team to develop and maintain quality relations with customers and prospects to ensure the Company's image, reputation and achievements are represented to maximum effect and to secure appropriate new business to ensure growth targets are met
  • Work to ensure operational costs are consistent with those set out in budget
  • Develop, control and monitor budgets in the assigned areas to ensure all activities are carried out within budget
  • Assist in the review and improvement of direct reports performance
  • Assist in the Recruitment, Management and Development of the team to maximise attendance, capability and potential
  • Provide clear, transparent and accurate reporting of operational performance

What we're looking for:

  • Previous Experience of managing in the waste industry preferably within landfill and/or hazardous waste
  • Appropriate COTC, or desire to work towards one
  • Environmental / Science free or equivalent
  • Experience gained in managing financial aspects of Landfill Management
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and efficiently while exercising sound judgement.
  • Experience in developing strategies to minimise environmental impact.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices.
  • Current driving licence is essential for this position
