Job description

LAC Home Tutor (Part or Full Time, Temporary)
Stockton on Tee
£25 - £30 per hour (salary is depending on experience and/or qualifications)

Start date: April 2025

The School and Role

A Local Council EHC Team are looking for a LAC Home Tutor who can teach Maths & English to students based in residential homes or foster care placements who are unable to attend education. As part of the role, the desired LAC Home Tutor will:

  1. Work 1:1 with students to re-engage them with education,
  2. Plan and deliver engaging lessons in core subjects (Maths & English),
  3. Support students during the transition to new school placements,
  4. Liaise with schools, social workers and other professionals to provide regular updates on student progress.

The LAC Home Tutor role is based in the Tees Valley area and is long term to provide consistency for students. Sessions can be one to two hours per day (during or after school hours) depending on the student's needs.

Requirements
To be considered for the role of LAC Home Tutor you will have:

  1. A professional Teaching Qualification (QTS / QTLS)
  2. Experience of working with young people with EHCPs
  3. Experience working with young people with SEND, SEMH, MLD, SLD, and/or other Additional Educational Needs
  4. An ability to plan and deliver Maths and English sessions
  5. A passion for making a difference to the lives of young people.

Additionally, you will require an Enhanced DBS (we can help obtain this at cost if needed).
