Laboratory Technician (Gigafactory)

A Midlands-based battery cell research and manufacturing centre is currently recruiting a Laboratory Technician. The successful candidate will support the business during production campaigns through the use of advanced characterisation techniques.

The Laboratory Technician will:

1. Ensure produced materials conform to customer standards and requirements.
2. Record and report experimental results generated through testing.
3. Sample, measure and verify that products meet pre-determined COA requirements.
4. Assist in data collection and fault analysis.
5. Maintain, calibrate and operate characterisation equipment.

The Laboratory Technician will have:

1. BSc degree in Chemistry, Chemical engineering or related discipline.
2. Experience and a basic understanding of techniques utilised in materials characterisation e.g. XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDX etc.
3. Knowledge or experience of battery chemistry, operation and design.
4. Experience in ICP-OES/MS, mercury porosimetry and GC-MS are highly desirable.
5. Previous experience working in an industrial or academic laboratory environment.
6. A comprehensive understanding of health and safety protocols in a lab environment including conducting risk and COSHH assessments.
7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
