Laboratory Technician

An opportunity has arisen for a Laboratory Technician within the Alloy Plant. This role operates on a 3-shift rotation and reports to the Laboratory Supervisor.

1. Analysis of alloy samples by instrumental techniques using combustion, optical emission, and X-ray fluorescence techniques. Samples include preliminary melt samples, certification samples, and remelt samples from casting plants and external customers.
2. Preparation of samples for analysis.
3. Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment.
4. Routine standardisation of laboratory equipment.
5. Maintaining 5S within the laboratory.
6. Inputting of results to LIMS.
7. Calculating bath additions during heat manufacture using LIMS and Optimat.

2. A science background with good mathematical and computer skills.
3. Ability to interpret results and make decisions on alloy chemistry adjustments within the scope of the role.
4. Flexibility to work within a small team to provide 24/7 laboratory cover.
5. Meticulous, with exceptional attention to detail.
6. Able to work alone, self-sufficiently, and independently prioritise tasks.
7. Good verbal and written communication skills.
