An established industry player is seeking two Laboratory Assistants for a six-month contract in Edinburgh. This role involves preparing and processing plant samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with quality assurance standards. Ideal candidates will have prior laboratory experience and be comfortable with manual tasks, including handling large samples. This position offers a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to contribute to important public sector work in a collaborative environment.

Experience working in a laboratory environment is desirable.

Prepare and process plant samples for laboratory analysis.
Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure availability of labware.

Laboratory experience

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Edinburgh, is currently looking to recruit 2 x Laboratory Assistant for 6 month contracts on rates of £13.81/hour (PAYE). This role will be based onsite.

Responsibilities:

Sample receipt and registration, preparation and processing of plant samples for laboratory analysis.
Maintenance of laboratory, ensuring the necessary equipment and labware/media is available.
Manual work, lifting and handling large bags of potatoes for testing and sampling of potato material.
Working within a quality assurance laboratory system. Maintain test records.

Desirable Skills:

Previous experience in a laboratory environment.
