Job Title: Contract SEN English Teacher required at an SEMH Provision

Location: London Borough of Greenwich

Contract Type: Fixed-term Monday to Friday

Daily Rate: £170 - £230 a day (dependent on experience)

A creative and welcoming SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) Provision is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced KS3 to GCSE English Teacher / Teacher of English (MPS or UPS) in the London Borough of Greenwich. This position is to start either immediately or in April 2025!

The successful English Teacher / Teacher of English (MPS or UPS) will be responsible for delivering English lessons to students diagnosed with SEMH needs, ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), and challenging behaviour. This role is pivotal in supporting our students' educational and personal development, helping them achieve their full potential.

The successful KS3 to GCSE English Teacher / Teacher of English must have Qualified Teacher Status.

Class sizes are small, typically between 5-6 children per class and supported by a minimum of 3 Behaviour TAs.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience teaching English at KS3 to GCSE level.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and challenging behaviour.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to create a positive learning environment.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or ability to process a new one ASAP.
  • Reside within easy commuting distance or live in the London Borough of Greenwich.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons tailored to the individual needs of students from KS3 to GCSE level.
  • Develop and implement effective teaching and learning strategies that accommodate the diverse needs of students with SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and challenging behaviour.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters learning and personal growth.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on students' progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, SENCO, and support staff to develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Manage classroom behaviour effectively, using appropriate strategies to support students with challenging behaviour.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum and best practices in teaching students with special educational needs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in SEN and SEMH education.
