About Us:

The Piano Works are coming to Cardiff — and we’re on the lookout for full and part-time, fun-loving, passionate, and guest-focused Barbacks to join our growing family. Already a hit in London with two buzzing live music venues in Covent Garden and Farringdon, we're bringing the same high-energy mix of restaurant, bar, concert, and non-stop party to the heart of Cardiff.

If you're passionate about hospitality, live music, and making guests smile, and you’ve got around a year’s experience in fast-paced environments like bars, clubs, live music venues, or experiential party spaces — we’d love to hear from you.

What We Need:

As a Kitchen Porter, you will work alongside our Kitchen Team to ensure smooth ingredient preparation and maintain cleanliness in our kitchen. Your responsibilities will also include inventory control, waste management, and proper organization of supplies. A keen eye for detail, exceptional time management, and strict adherence to food health and safety regulations will be key to your success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Chef in preparing ingredients by washing, cleaning, peeling, cutting, and chopping fruits, vegetables, poultry, and meat.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in food preparation areas by following established standards and sanitizing surfaces.
  • Thoroughly clean and store cooking appliances, utensils, cutting boards, and dishes.
  • Keep the kitchen floors clean through sweeping, mopping, and wiping down kitchen walls.
  • Support with unloading and organizing delivered food supplies.
  • Ensure the proper storage and organization of food supplies.
  • Promptly transfer meal ingredients from storage areas to the kitchen as instructed by the Cook.
  • Assist with inventory control and maintain records of notable food wastage.
  • Team player with the ability to follow instructions effectively.

Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a kitchen porter or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to handle repetitive tasks and heavy lifting.
  • Attention to detail to ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of kitchen equipment and surfaces.
  • Team player mentality with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles.
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
