• Working: 5 days out of 6 (Monday to Saturday 07:00 - 16:00 / 10:00 - 18:00 / 11:00 - 19:00)

As a Kitchen Porter for Sodexo in Hurstpierpoint College, 'Hurst Street', Hassocks, West Sussex, BN6 9JS, you will be a key part of the kitchen team. You'll be responsible for maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness within the kitchen and food & beverage preparation areas. Your cheerful, can-do attitude will make you a major part of everyone's everyday experience.

What You'll Do:

• Wash all crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, and equipment, as well as food service equipment.

• Ensure the following are kept clean and tidy to a very high standard:

  • Floors & Walls

  • Bins - inside and out

  • Crushing and disposal of cardboard and boxes

  • Fridges & Freezers (with assistance from chefs)

  • Delivery areas

• Maintain cleanliness and safety of working areas.

• Transport provisions, equipment and other catering related items as required.

• Adhere to all health and safety, fire, hygiene, and COSHH regulations governing your work, ensuring the correct chemicals/detergents are always used.

• Report all accidents (and near misses) to the Chef.

• Report any shortages in equipment or chemicals to the Supervisor.

• Ensure that all food is prepared in the environment with due care and attention particularly in regard to customers' special dietary requirements; for example, nut, dairy or wheat allergies.

What You Bring:

• Positive attitude, professionalism, and respect for others.

• Basic food-handling skills.

• Ability to lift heavy items and work in a standing position for long periods (up to 8 hours).

• No previous work experience required.
