Ward 5 (Haematology) is a 14 bedded inpatient ward with an ambulatory outpatient bay currently has a vacancy for a Junior Ward Manager vacancy. This is a post for a dynamic, motivated and committed nurse who is seeking professional development within the field of haematology. The candidate will be able to motivate the nursing team to provide the highest standards of care, and show a commitment to the care of patients undergoing chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation. This is an excellent opportunity to develop skills in a specialist environment. The successful applicant will need to demonstrate effective management skills and have specialist qualifications in haematology/oncology at degree level or above.

Ward 5 operates a two tier, 11 1/2 hourly shift system (07.00-19.30 and 19.00-07.30).
The post holder is the designated deputy to the person with continuing responsibility. The person is designated to regularly take charge of the ward and to provide effective professional and managerial leadership to all staff in the absence of the Ward Manager.
The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care, maintaining a high standard of nursing care within the framework of the Trust policies.
The post holder will teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff including basic students, back to nursing students and health care assistants.
