Job description

Junior Sister/Charge Nurse Cardiac Day Ward

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Registered Nurse to join our Senior Nursing team on the Cardiac Day Ward. The post holder will work alongside the Band 7 Manager and the band 6 Cath Lab Charge Nurses to deliver high quality elective and acute care for Cardiology patients across the region, including the tertiary hospitals including Scarborough, Scunthorpe and Grimsby.

They will lead by example, bringing their own experience to the role to guide and support their team and patients. The role is varied and requires someone who is adaptable, reliable and has a passion for Cardiology Nursing.

Main duties of the job

The main duties include the coordination of the Cardiac Day Ward including the elective patient flow from admission through to discharge, sometimes providing overnight care as well. The Junior Sister/Charge Nurse will work collaboratively with the Senior Nursing team in conjunction with the multi-professional teams who all have input into patient care on the unit.

They will be expected to deputise for the Band 7 during periods of leave and provide direct patient care. There will be managerial responsibilities and development in this area will be supported. Some of these duties include attending to Datix reports and the learning from these, dealing with PALS complaints and direct complaints and queries from patients and their relatives in real time as well.
