The Acute Medical Unit are looking to recruit band 6 nurses. We are looking for existing band 6s or band 5s that are ready to be developed into this role.
We are a dynamic well led 73 bedded unit, 10 of those beds allocated to patients requiring higher observation beds (HOBS).
We admit and assess patients from the Emergency Department or direct from GP's and clinics.
We require enthusiastic individuals with a can do attitude that have the ability to work within our friendly units and teams. You must be as passionate as we are in getting things right first time every time. Commitment to undertake ongoing in-service training and development is essential.
Candidates must have the initiative to adapt to the changing demands of the service and be able to contribute to the development of service provision. They will need to be experienced in mentoring student nurses, holding a relevant mentorship and/or teaching qualification and be supportive of junior members of the team, and have relevant experience at Band 5 enabling them to be confident to lead the team in a shift co-ordinator role. Ability to cover the department and provide reasonable flexibility in terms of hours worked, including varying shift patterns across days and nights will be expected.

To deliver SAFE, PERSONAL and EFFECTIVE patient care on a daily basis. You should be an expert in all areas of nursing care from patients admission to discharge, which facilitates clinical practice development. You will actively support the ward/unit manager, ensuring the effective running of the unit in their absence. You will provide daily clinical and managerial leadership to nursing and support staff in the delivery of evidence based patient centred care.
This will be of a high standard. You are responsible for ensuring all care is delivered according to Trust policies and procedures. Utilising clinical audit, research, supervision of practice and teaching, you will monitor and improve standards of care by efficient and effective use of resources.
