What you'll be doing:
- Support reliability engineering in terms of:
- Identification and reporting of issues
- Progression of issues and support individuals in terms of resolution
- Support ensuring that issue summaries are up to date and that issue status reflects the current standing of the issue.
- Work with design and other departments as required to understand and develop solutions/preventative measures to ongoing reliability issues.
- Document issues solutions where appropriate within CATIA - design work as required, dependant on design experience/background.
- Define and document the specification of the race car for all track and off track (rig test) events.
- Define and conduct where required pre-event build spec meetings.
- Develop car build specification processes and documentation in collaboration with other departments.
- Review content and management of the UIIL document.
- Ensure Reliability manager, Senior reliability engineer and Chief/Deputy chief designers along with heads of departments are up to date (documentation available) with the developing specification of the car across the season.
Attributes:
- Understanding of the current F1 car structure/high level race car/aerospace engineering.
- Understanding of engineering production processes and timescales and build procedure of a race car.
- Attention to detail and ability to produce clear and concise documentation.
- Good communication skills, willing to work and communicate clearly and effectively with engineers, mechanics, production. Prepared to challenge existing perceptions where appropriate.
Requirements:
- Able to manage a varied workload.
- CAD familiar, able to interrogate assemblies to understand car structure; assemblies and components.
- Qualified to engineering degree level preferred.
- Minimum 3 years engineering experience in high level motorsport or aerospace design/production engineering with experience of organisation and documentation of build or similar procedures.
- Could be someone with a design or production office background wanting to develop a more varied workload and with a desire to be involved in multiple areas of the car/team.
- Could be a designer with good organisation, communication and documentation skills with a solid understanding of the construction/build of a modern race car.
- I would expect them to be trackside support at testing, winter and in season. This would initially be as the night shift reliability engineer at track events with the potential to expand into off track dyno tests etc.
