What will you be doing on the apprenticeship?
As a Junior Production Coordinator Apprentice, you will gain hands-on experience in how content creation comes together, from concept to reaching the audience, in TV/Audio or content for online. You will learn a wide range of skills which may include preparing for shoots or live radio studios and recordings; coordinating transport; booking kit and crews; issuing information the teams need via 'call sheets'; assisting with the management of budgets and assisting with coordinating staff training; helping on the studio floor, in the TV gallery or on the BBC's radio stations such as Radio 1, 1Xtra or Asian Network and ensuring that everyone gets paid! All the while you'll be learning best practice from expert BBC production management teams.

What will you be studying?
You'll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on the job at the BBC and off the job with our chosen education provider. The academic study involves attending instructor-led workshops; tutorial sessions; presentations and group work. Throughout your apprenticeship, you will be asked to gather a portfolio of evidence and work on an End Point Assessment that demonstrates your learning, while working towards a level 4 apprenticeship qualification.
Where could the role take you?
On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will be able to apply for job roles such as a Production Management Assistant, Production Secretary or Production Coordinator both inside and outside of the BBC. This scheme starts in September 2025, and you will be on a fixed term contract which means your contract is for the duration of the apprenticeship only. The duration of this scheme is 17-months.
BBC Live Music & Events
From Radio 1 Big Weekend, Radio 2 in the Park, 6 Music Festival, or Asian Network live, the Live Events team work across a variety of BBC content and Festivals to ensure popular music is at the Heart of BBC output. As a team we work to bring people together for unforgettable shared experiences, reflecting the cultural diversity of the UK through impactful broadcast Events.
As a Live Events Production Coordinator Apprentice with BBC Popular Music you can expect to work across a huge variety of Projects across Radio 1, Radio 2, 6 Music, Asian Network, 1Xtra and BBC Introducing. You'll be assigned to work with a project team for the first few months while you get to know the department and learn about key skills and responsibilities of the role. As your confidence grows you will be assigned tasks and encouraged to take on new responsibilities within projects which will involve the opportunity to experience working on location and on live broadcast output.

Apprentices starting at BBC from September 2025 will be placed on a 'Fixed Term' contract. This means your contract is for the duration of your apprenticeship only. When you have successfully completed your apprenticeship, you will be required to apply for a job - this might be a job here at the BBC, or somewhere in the wider media industry.
