Job Purpose

You will be responsible for the infrastructure build, automation, and deployment to deliver a production-ready environment that can scale to meet ongoing growth. Additional tasks include triaging new work items, managing pipelines, writing Terraform, and engaging and supporting other teams.

Key to this role is hands-on experience with automation in AWS, Azure, GCP, or VMWare. Additional experience in scalability, network architecture, monitoring, lifecycle management, and security is a bonus.

At Betfred, we support a large customer base, so an appetite for learning about a wide range of exciting and diverse technologies is essential. We use Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins, Terraform, Git, and AWS cloud technologies such as Lambdas, EC2, EKS, and CloudFront.

We deliver and support common, modern applications in our environments such as RabbitMQ, Kafka, MariaDB/MySQL, Redis, and many others.

Job Duties

• With the support of the team, deploy using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with common industry technologies such as Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, and AWS cloud tools.
• Work with Kubernetes, Docker, and standard virtual machine infrastructure to allow automated deployment, upgrade, and operation of application stacks that can be reused across multiple projects.
• Work with the Engineering teams to diagnose and support issues with application stacks.
• Manage IaC with Git lifecycles, repositories, Pull Requests, and Merges.
• Triage issues with deployments, scalability, availability, and new work requests.
• Work within existing processes and compliance frameworks to deliver clean, secure, and performant solutions.
• Get involved with our team of Platform experts to learn additional skills, undertake training, and along with the “Skills for the Information Age” framework (SFIA) for personal growth, further your career.
• Work in a DevOps culture of sprints, scrums, and enabling self-service for other teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential

• Some experience in server administration (Linux and/or Windows).
• Experience across the main cloud providers (AWS is our provider of choice).
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, lean, and deadline-driven organisation.
• Able to work under pressure and to ask for support when required.
• Enthusiastic about cloud technologies, automation, and improving technology stacks.

Desirable

• Background in a hands-on technical role (IT support, operations, or development) with an interest in automation.
• Experience using configuration management tools such as Ansible or Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation.
• Experience with containers using Docker or Kubernetes.
• Able to automate complex operational and technical processes using industry-standard tools.
• Networking knowledge (subnets, gateways, load balancers, etc.).
• Git experience.
• Dev(Sec)Ops knowledge and experience in working within these frameworks.
