JOB TITLE: Junior Network Engineer

LOCATION: Wiltshire

SALARY: £30,000 - £35,000

WAY OF WORKING: Full Time/ Office-based | Permanent

Our client is a trusted provider of IT infrastructure and end-to-end managed services across all industries. With a strong reputation for delivering secure, reliable solutions, they specialise in core networking and infrastructure services, supporting environments that require both onsite and remote expertise.

They are currently seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support the team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to grow their skills and experience in a dynamic, hands-on role within a collaborative engineering environment.

THE GRADUATE DEVELOPER OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for a motivated, technically curious individual with a foundational understanding of networking. This role is perfect for a recent graduate, career switcher, or someone with entry-level experience who is passionate about a career in network engineering.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide 1st and 2nd line support for network-related incidents and service requests.
  2. Work with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve firewall, switch, and connectivity issues.
  3. Assist with routine configuration changes and network upgrades under supervision.
  4. Monitor network performance using tools such as PRTG or Auvik.
  5. Support the service desk by investigating escalated network cases.
  6. Maintain accurate records of work and incidents via the ticketing system (SysAid).
  7. Assist in equipment installations, including new switch deployments and patching.
  8. Participate in training and shadowing sessions to build your technical skills.
  9. Contribute to project-based work including network refreshes and expansions.

YOUR KEY SKILLS:

  1. IT-related qualification or equivalent hands-on experience (required)
  2. Cisco CCNA certification or currently studying towards it (desirable)
  3. Basic understanding of IP addressing, subnets, and VLANs
  4. Familiarity with networking hardware (e.g. switches, routers, firewalls)
  5. Experience with ticketing systems and monitoring tools (desirable)
  6. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  7. Willingness to learn and grow under the mentorship of senior engineers
  8. Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (essential)
