We are now recruiting for a Junior Project Manager to produce project plans for contracts/orders where they are the point of contact for both the business and the customer.
You will be planning, monitoring and controlling orders from customer order receipt to delivery, reporting and escalating issues on projects to ensure on-time delivery.
This is a critical role within IMI Thompson Valves and is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the cost and schedules of projects are maintained within budget.
As our Junior Project Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing order documentation when the project is undertaken to ensure costs, margins and schedules can be adhered to.
- Recording & providing feedback to area leader and stakeholders on lessons learned throughout projects.
- Acting as the customer interface for the duration of a project/order/contract, giving the customer regular status reports (some contractual) or dealing with the customer on issues with the project/order/contract under guidance of a senior project manager.
- Managing and aiding resolution of technical enquiries with engineering support. Participating in customer visits/quality reviews to final product acceptance.
- Producing project plans, which are regularly updated and issued to the team involved in meeting the customer's delivery schedule.
- Holding regular project meetings, taking the minutes and ensuring actions are maintained, escalating if delivery is not maintained.
- Managing a robust process that tracks project margin throughout the project execution to ensure margins are maintained, and mitigation plans developed with functional leaders are delivered.
- Using the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) process to maintain project status and costs and support the production planning process.
- Maintaining customer delivery status through liaison with elements of the business and communicating with customers as necessary.
- Reporting on a weekly basis the status of projects to area leader.
- Performing other such duties commensurate with the nature and level of the post as may be reasonably required.
In order to be successful in this role you must have / be:
- Qualified to HNC/bachelor's degree level (or equivalent experience) in a related discipline. This academic knowledge may then have been applied in different roles including sales, projects, or design.
- Some experience in Project Management; Process Improvement; Technical Understanding; Documentation Skills.
- Previous experience of evaluating estimates, proposals, bids or tenders.
- Effective communication skills with a particular emphasis on building engagement, influencing and presentation skills.
- Ability to demonstrate good commercial acumen, overseeing production specific proposals and client relationships.
- Demonstrable desire to progress and succeed.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- Competent in IT including Microsoft packages and experience in using an ERP system. High level of attention to detail.
- Excellent time management.
- Proactive approach to continuous improvement.
- Willing to travel both nationally and internationally (if required).
It would be great if you had:
- APM PFQ or equivalent.
- Knowledge of CAD/CAM Design and analysis, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures; able to understand and read engineering drawings.
- Knowledge of LEAN tools.
