We are looking for an aspiring legal professional to join our team. As a Junior Lawyer, you will provide advice to all Volkswagen Financial Services division companies in the UK and where directed in other jurisdictions. This unique opportunity will allow you to work alongside seasoned professionals, hone your legal skills, and contribute to our clients' success while growing your career.
Here's your main responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively and confidentially, both verbally and in writing, to offer pragmatic and proportionate risk-based legal advice to the business and address initial queries to the legal team.
- Collaborate with the legal team to manage and oversee various commercial, corporate, intellectual property, banking, data protection, dispute resolution, regulatory, and structured finance matters.
- Take ownership of legal service delivery for assigned business areas and activities.
- Act honestly and with integrity maintaining strict adherence to legal, regulatory, and professional standards, including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Handbook and Code of Conduct.
- Establish and maintain effective and professional relationships with internal stakeholders and relevant external third parties.
- Perform comprehensive fact-gathering and legal research to support business advice on legal issues.
- Provide commercially pragmatic guidance, mitigating risks proportionately and offering appropriate solutions and strategies to achieve commercial goals legally and compliantly.
- Draft legally effective documents, including contracts, securities, and other relevant documentation, accurately reflecting business instructions for designated business areas.
- Maintain level of competence and legal knowledge needed to practise effectively, taking into account changes in role and/or areas of work and developments in the law, keeping accurate, complete and clear records of work undertaken.
- Work closely with the business in the management of legal risk and support in identifying potential system or process alterations to comply with the law or mitigate legal risk.
This is the experience that you will bring to be a success in this role:
- Law Degree or equivalent (LLB/Graduate with Diploma in Law or SQE1) and ideally, completion and pass of the Legal Practice Course and/or professional legal qualification (solicitor, barrister or CILEX).
- Strong knowledge of commercial law, with practical experience of reviewing and drafting a range of commercial contracts and providing advice on how regulation and/or laws operate in practice.
- Knowledge of financial services regulation and the practical application of UK laws in a business.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities, capable of thinking ahead, setting priorities, and efficiently managing a diverse workload to tight deadlines.
- Exceptional communication skills, adept at effectively conveying messages by employing various styles, tools, and techniques tailored to the audience and information.
- Experience of researching and collation of complex written information.
- Persuasive and influential, able to present well-reasoned arguments and use strategic approaches to achieve agreement and positive outcomes.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with diverse individuals and effectively collaborate within a team environment.
- Demonstrates a proactive approach to break down complex issues into manageable components, systematically evaluate options, and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
