Junior Developer (Audio & Instruments)
Salary: £35k
Job Type: Permanent, Full-time
Location: London office, with hybrid working (3-days-per-week in London office)
Eligibility: You must be eligible to work in the UK

In this entry-level role, you’ll get hands-on experience creating sample instruments, using our custom tools to turn recordings into inspiring, playable sounds. This is a learning-focused position designed to help you build your skills so that, over time, you’ll be able to handle everything needed from audio editing to preparing instruments for release. You do not need to be able to write code to be successful in this role.

Primary Tasks

  • Editing and cleaning up audio from recording sessions
  • Using audio processing software to manipulate and refine samples
  • Creating playable sample instruments that feel and sound great
  • Testing instruments and plugins to make sure they work as intended

Key Responsibilities

Organisation

  • Keep track of your tasks and make sure things get done on time
  • Let your team know early if something might not be finished by the deadline

Technical

  • Use our pre-existing bespoke tools and scripts for efficient instrument creation
  • Practice self-led problem solving by independently seeking out solutions to technical issues before asking for help
  • Attend team meetings to learn from others and share your thoughts
  • Begin to contribute ideas and make suggestions to the processes used during Development Kick-offs

Conceptual

  • Contribute to the creation of new sounds and signals based on the processes set out by the project’s Lead Developer

Knowledge Sharing

  • Undertake self-led learning (using internal documentation and online tutorials) to gain a full understanding of sample instrument programming and audio processing techniques.
  • Engage in tutorial sessions with your line manager
  • A graduate (likely Music Tech or Computer Science) or someone with similar experience
  • You'll be working on our core products, so being a sample library enthusiast and user of Spitfire products is essential
  • Knowledge of DAWs and Music Production practices
  • Technical problem solving
  • Enjoy working methodically
  • Strong attention to detail
