Junior Commercial Manager - Mechanical Contractor (New Build Housing)

Due to winning new projects and organic growth, my client is looking for a Junior Commercial Manager to oversee commercial administration of high-quality plumbing, heating, and ventilation solutions for some of the UK's top housebuilders. This would be suitable for a Quantity Surveyor who is looking to join a company that is going through a rapid growth spell - you would be joining at the early stages which will naturally lead to progression to Commercial Manager later down the line.

The Role

As a Junior Commercial Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting the commercial operations of projects. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will assist in cost management, procurement, valuations, and contract administration. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career in a growing company with a strong pipeline of work.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist in preparing cost estimates, budgets, and forecasts
2. Support the management of contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions
3. Work with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing
4. Assist with valuations, variations, and final accounts
5. Monitor project costs and highlight potential risks or overspends
6. Liaise with site teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure smooth commercial operations
7. Support in producing financial reports and documentation

Requirements:

1. Experience in a commercial or quantity surveying role within the mechanical, plumbing, or construction sector
2. A relevant qualification such as a degree/HNC in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building Services, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
3. Strong numerical and analytical skills
4. Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
6. A proactive and detail-oriented approach

Package:

1. Salary in the region of 40,000 which can be negotiated for the right person
2. Progression to Commercial Manager
3. 8% pension
4. 28 days holiday
