Job description

Job summary

12 months Fixed Term.

Junior Clinical Fellow (CT Level) in Trauma & Orthopaedics

It's an exciting time for the Orthopaedic team at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. We've just received significant investment from the trust to expand and improve our offering to patients across our Orthopaedic services.

There is on call cover required on a 1:11 rota.

A little bit about us!

The Orthopaedic unit has a dedicated brand new elective care centre for elective surgery as well as a ring fenced ward. Our outpatient department at the hospital has its own x-ray facility. We also provide an excellent interface outpatient service at Bolton One in the town centre led by our team of Advanced Orthopaedic Practitioners. Within the hospital we have two trauma wards both of which have a Trauma Stabilisation Unit (TSU).

Our Elective Care Centre has 2 laminar flow theatres which are generally used for arthroplasty surgery and a further 2 laminar flow theatres in the main theatre department where we complete trauma surgery.

At present, our team of thirteen Consultants provide general services as well as appropriate specialisation in key areas. Our team also consists of experienced plaster room staff, physiotherapists, specialist registrars, foundation year doctors, clinical fellows, advanced nurse practitioners and our dedicated administrative team.

Main duties of the job

This post would be ideal for someone who wishes to increase their experience in Trauma and Orthopaedics in a busy hospital. The post holder would be expected to participate in a full shift on call rota, care for the patients on the ward, attend weekly fracture clinic, as well as trauma and elective theatre lists. In addition, the post holder is expected to take part in the departmental teaching and participate in audit. The trust has excellent educational facilities available including a dedicated library and study area in the Education Centre.

Please note that Clinical Fellows are paid on a local pay scale that mirrors Doctors in Training pay scales. Basic salary offered for this role is fixed at £49,909 and will not be uplifted beyond that salary point. Where the role requires out of hours working, evening, weekend and on call enhancements will be added according to a work schedule. It is Trust practice that we offer a set salary for this role and variations will not be considered.

We have plenty to celebrate as our Trust goes from strength to strength on so many fronts including patient experience, staff satisfaction and financial stability.
