Junior Buyer - Pets

Reporting to the Senior Buyer, you will source products that will appeal to our customers. You will also engage and negotiate with suppliers to ensure we have the best range, prices, and promotions in the market. This is a great role to help you develop your buying toolkit with one of the fastest growing retailers in the market.

A great opportunity for a Junior Buyer - Pets to join a FTSE 100 company in the Liverpool area. The business sells a variety of products across a number of different channels/markets. This is one of the largest categories in the business, so we need someone who is really driven and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Description

1. Source and manage the product range from initial concept until completion, both from the UK, Europe, and Far East sources on own label.
2. Work with some of the biggest household brand names to ensure we are first to market on new products and have a strong promotion programme.
3. Weekly review sales of new and existing lines, deciding with the Senior Buyer what lines we should keep or take out of the range.
4. Build a strong activity plan for the year that maximises key seasonal events.
5. Work closely with the merchandiser and suppliers to ensure the Critical Path is up to date on key events.
6. Plan & prepare with the Senior Buyer ranges for sign off with the Buying Director.
7. Work with the Design Team to develop own brand artwork for approval.
8. This Junior Buyer role will have buying responsibility for 3 different subcategories - a great opportunity to step up to the next level in preparation for Buyer level.

Profile
Must have a growth mindset, be willing to learn on the job, and enjoy having responsibility and accountability for your P&L.
Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
Able to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
Able to utilise data to fully understand customer behaviour and habits and have good Excel skills.
Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once and to work well under pressure.
