Job description

To assist in the sourcing, negotiating and purchasing of product that meet the company's vision and buying strategy for a given range, whilst owning and supporting the delivery of agreed target KPI's. Working in partnership with the Buying Director, Buyer, Merchandiser, Technologist and suppliers to plan and develop the range.

A great opportunity for a Junior Buyer to join a leading Fashion Multi channel retailer in West Yorkshire. The company is well established and has been trading for over 30 years. They sell Fashion product across Clothing, Accessories & Footwear and Lingerie.


Description

  1. Plan a commercial range within your own areas alongside the Buyer and Buying director that maximizes sales and profit.
  2. Maintain a clear understanding of the customer brand handwriting.
  3. Ensure that the supply base has the capability to meet requirements.
  4. Negotiate with suppliers for the best price whilst maintaining product integrity and standards in production.
  5. Ensure that agreed levels of good, better and best product are bought.
  6. Review competitor activity and regularly assess price architecture.
  7. Meet deadlines within the buying calendar and adhere to the critical path.
  8. Set clear performance standards to self and team members.
  9. Present the range in trading, selections, sign off and review meetings.
  10. Understand profit and intake margin strategy focusing on achieved NAM.
  11. Actively trade the department, review commitment against current sales performance and set an action plan accordingly.
  12. Work with technologist to take joint responsibility for fit and quality.
  13. Regularly visit stores and work closely with retail and Merchandise colleagues.
  14. Work with the supplier design resource to source and develop new product opportunities.
  15. Secure dates for product sign-off at appropriate points in the season.
  16. Oversee the critical path management for the department.

Profile

  1. Assistant Buyer Level or above.
  2. Strong knowledge of putting together a profitable range.
  3. Effective communicator, presenter and team player.
  4. Ability to adopt a flexible approach when required and to think swiftly.
  5. Relevant technical experience for a given product range.
  6. Experience of working with suppliers on a landed and FOB basis.
