PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

The Jr. Audio Technician’s responsibility is to bring intentional focus for every guest to hear the gospel, engage with corporate worship, and experience an environment that directs their attention to Jesus in the Sunday gatherings and midweek events. This position serves as a part of the Production Team, which ensures the most forward-facing ministries of Village Church, the teaching, worship, and service experiences, are brought to life to have the greatest impact on the lives of people.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates as a member of the larger Audio Team that serves regional Village Church locations.
  • Supports the Worship Leader, band, and speaker(s) through preparedness, skill, and communication.
  • Ensures the live experience is clear and intelligible, feedback-free, the vocals are primary, and the sound level targets are achieved.
  • Ensures all transitions are anticipated, intentional, and prepared for.
  • Ensures excellent audio recordings of the music and live teaching elements of each Sunday service.
  • Leads and manages volunteer team members through recruiting, training, and shepherding.
  • Follows the Production workflow to ensure Sunday and mid-week services and events are produced on time and at the highest level of excellence. This includes all mid-week planning, service collaboration, communication, and ensuring deliverables are completed on time.
  • Ensures audio systems are maintained and repaired and function optimally at Sunday and midweek venues.
  • Works closely with the Worship Leader and Production Ministry Lead to ensure sonic cohesion with Village Church audio standards.
  • Contributes to regular training events and resources.
  • Maintains ongoing self-development and one-on-one training with the Audio Director.
  • Participates in Village-wide and regional events.
  • Participates in training of leaders for new Village Church locations.
  • Ensures all responsibilities are completed in a purposeful, strategic and focused manner that points people to Jesus.
  • Acts as a servant by inviting, discipling, training and equipping others to serve.
  • Ensures all responsibilities are produced, promoted and led with a high level of innovation and excellence, honouring God at the highest level.
  • Acts with a sense of ambitious urgency, ensuring all work is completed wisely and impactfully. Time is a gift from God.
  • Maintains an openness to being a learner by committing to continuous spiritual, professional, and self-development.
  • Contributes to the best team culture by participating joyfully and working well with peers.
  • Commits to thanking at least one volunteer on a weekly basis.

Gospel:

  • There are no barriers or technical distractions in the Sunday and midweek services which would inhibit guests from hearing the Gospel message.
  • The Audio Team understands their role in seeing people become fully devoted followers of Jesus.
  • Team members serve joyfully and authentically out of the Good News that we are redeemed and have our purpose in Jesus—everything we do points back to this.

Community:

  • People are given the opportunity to use their gifts and talents in high-capacity volunteer roles - entering into the work that Christ is doing through the local church.
  • The volunteer team is healthy in number and commitment; they are equipped, engaged, and appreciated and have close relationships with those on their team and at their church.

Culture:

  • Relationships with unchurched people are pursued - connecting with them and inviting them to events and Sunday services.
  • Audio systems are optimized for the best performance to reach the surrounding culture effectively.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Philosophically aligned with Village Church Mission, Focus, and strategy.
  • Fulfills character qualifications as highlighted in 1 Timothy and Titus.
  • Fulfills duties required of Village Church members as outlined in the ‘This is Village Church’ course.
  • Pursues a deeper relationship with Christ and greater spiritual growth through prayer, the gospel, and community. Is a disciple.
  • Able to operate, teach, and troubleshoot Village Church’s audio systems and have an awareness of the integration of video and lighting systems.
  • Has passion and skill for leading people. Proven ability to discern, identify, recruit, and develop leaders.
  • Dependable and servant-hearted; will do any job with joy and passion.
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

WORKWEEK

  • Up to 10 hrs/week, flexible, but includes (in priority):
    • Sunday services at Surrey North location:
      Q1: 1/month, Q2: 2/month, Q3: 3/month, Q4: 4/month
    • Young Adults: 2/month
    • Regular one-on-one training sessions with the Audio Director
    • Surrey Sr. Youth: as schedule permits
    • Worship Team mid-week rehearsals: as schedule permits

3 weeks of vacation
