We operate one of the largest streetlight contracting businesses in the UK with a large presence in the Midlands and the North West. As well as providing new installations for most of the UK's Housing developers, we also work for the majority of the local authorities in our areas.

As a Jointer / Electrician you'll be responsible for the installation and wiring of street lighting and highway electrical street furniture. This includes basic testing of single items of apparatus and fault finding on private networks including service cable transfers and service cable mains connections to DNO/IDNO networks.

Right now we're looking for a Jointer/Electrician to join our team at Derby with occasional regional travel to support the wider team.

Main Responsibilities

1. To install and connect street lighting and highway electrical street furniture.
2. Carry out routine and non-routine electrical street lighting maintenance including fault finding.
3. To excavate joint holes and prepare cables for jointing.
4. To carry out connections to 3PH DNO/IDNO networks.
5. Supervision of multiple team members.
6. Testing and inspecting to BS7671.
7. Driving general and specialist company vehicles appropriate to the role.
8. The cleaning, checking and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles associated with the role.
9. Attending call outs as required.
10. The safe use and operation of tools, equipment and vehicles associated with the role.
11. Working in a safe manner and in accordance with the Company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.
12. Complying with operational working practices and associated risk assessments.
13. Taking full ownership for personal health and safety responsibilities and that of the team.
14. Ensuring PPE worn at all times.

What we need from you

1. A skilled craft with a recognised apprenticeship or training programme.
2. C & G 236 Parts 1 & 2 /2330 Level 2 & 3.
3. 18th edition BS7671 wiring regulations qualification.
4. A current driving licence and qualified to drive specialist vehicles as required.
5. A high degree of manual dexterity.
6. The ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
7. The ability to take a confident but diplomatic approach to customers at all times.

It would be great if you have

1. Current NRSWA accreditation.
2. Full G39 qualification.
3. C & G 236 Parts 1 & 2 /2330 Level 2 & 3.
4. CSCS accreditation via the Highways Electrical Registration Scheme (HERS).
5. A current full driving licence to drive vehicles up to 7500Kg (C1) or C (HGV).
6. A current and relevant First Aid and Manual Handling certificate.
7. Extensive understanding of the Highways Lighting business and distribution network.
8. Extensive knowledge of the Company’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality policies and procedures.
