Founded in 1976 as the Tri-Town Health District, we soon evolved into Chesprocott Health District, proudly representing Cheshire, Prospect, and Wolcott. Our name embodies our commitment to these three vibrant communities: Ches(Cheshire), pro(Prospect), cott(Wolcott).

The Chesprocott Health District is dedicated to safeguarding and enhancing the health and well-being of the communities of Cheshire, Prospect, and Wolcott. We are seeking a visionary Health Director to lead our dynamic team in addressing public health challenges and promoting healthy lifestyles across our district.

Summary of Position

The Health Director plays a pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting community health. This leadership position involves strategic planning, policy development, and implementation of public health initiatives tailored to the diverse needs of our population. You will work closely with the Chesprocott Board of Directors for administrative guidance and direction.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead Strategic Health Initiatives that address public health challenges and collaborate with regional health departments to enhance services.
  2. Shape Policy for a Healthier Community that tackles emerging health issues and drive continuous improvement.
  3. Oversee Impactful Programs and evaluate public health programs for compliance and effectiveness.
  4. Engage and Empower the Community by leading educational campaigns and public forums to promote health awareness.
  5. Promote Health and Wellness through health campaigns and educational programs to encourage preventive behaviors.
  6. Prepare for Emergencies by developing robust emergency preparedness plans for public health crises.
  7. Optimize Resources and Funding and seek opportunities to support initiatives.
  8. Inspire and Develop a team of public health professionals.
  9. Utilize Data for Better Health Outcomes to drive informed decisions.
  10. Ensure Regulatory Excellence with health regulations and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  1. Licensed physician in Connecticut with a degree in public health, or a graduate degree in public health from an accredited institution.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of progressive public health leadership or management experience.
  3. Eligibility for appointment approval by the CT Commissioner of Public Health.
  4. Deep understanding of public health principles, epidemiology, health promotion, and legislation.
  5. Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  6. Proficiency in data analysis, research methods, and evaluation techniques.
  7. Valid Connecticut Driver’s License.
  8. Professional, team-oriented, with opportunities for autonomous work.
  9. Office and field work with exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards.
  10. Minimal physical effort required for office work; moderate effort required periodically in the field.
  11. Flexibility to work additional hours and attend meetings outside regular work hours.
