INTENSIVE HOME TREATMENT & CRISIS ASSESSMENT CAMHS PSYCHIATRY SPECIALTY DOCTOR

Job Details:

Salary: £59,175 - £95,400 per annum (Pro-Rata)

Contract: Substantive

Hours: Full-time: 10 Programmed Activities (DCC:SPA = 8:2)

On call: Optional - worked in PAs

Location: Kent and Medway Adolescent Hospital, Staplehurst, Kent, TN12 0ER

Qualifications needed:

  • Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
  • Section 12 certification, or a commitment to work towards this.
  • Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in children, including neurodevelopmental disorders
  • At least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis) of which at least 2 years will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee or shall have equivalent experience and competencies

We are currently recruiting for a Community CAMHS Specialty Doctor position in the Intensive Home Treatment & Crisis Assessment Team, which is (the community-facing) part of the Adolescent Tier 4 CAMHS service, based at Kent and Medway Adolescent Hospital in Staplehurst, Kent, TN12 0ER.

This is a new, substantive, full-time post - 10 PAs with 8 DCCs and 2 SPAs. This post is currently vacant, and we wish to recruit to this post as soon as possible.

You will work under the supervision of a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist in the IHT / Crisis pathway.

Job responsibilities

You will be expected to:
  • Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to children and young people with mental health needs, across Kent and Medway.
  • Provide senior medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical cases.
  • Provide guidance and supervision to the team.
  • Work directly with children and young people and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external CAMHS mental health providers, and acute hospitals.
  • Work under the supervision of a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist, as well as the inpatient medical workforce which consists of 1wte Consultant Psychiatrist, 2wte Specialty Doctors, and 1wte Senior trainee.
  • Develop links already established with the local acute trusts A& E departments and inpatient wards.
  • Be responsible for patients allocated to them and will assess, manage, plan, and deliver care.
  • Offer clinical supervision and teaching to the core trainee on placement.
  • Support your peers and the team manager and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative.
  • Supervise junior colleagues and liaise with other health and social professionals and agencies.
