IT Support & Network Manager – Hull / York – £32-38k REF 551
A leading, local manufacturer based on a huge site near York / Hull.
Following significant growth and investment in new technology and CNC equipment, the business has grown significantly, in line with customer demands and currently employs a large team of experts in their field.
As part of this growth, they are now looking to recruit an experienced IT Support and Network Manager to support the IT infrastructure across the business.
In this challenging and varied role, you'll work alongside the IT Systems Development Manager to deliver the group IT Strategy, sustaining an effective IT control environment, ensuring system availability, security, and effectiveness of core systems at all times. You'll also be integral in developing and embedding the Company's Data Security policies and processes to enable the business to grow in a secure and stable manner.
You'll consider yourself to be an experienced and professional IT Support and Network Manager or Team Leader, who can demonstrate at least 2 years previous experience of leading on infrastructure and support projects ideally in a manufacturing setting. You'll have extensive knowledge of managing physical and virtual servers, networking, and data management.
In addition to this, you'll consider yourself to be a natural planner of work, with great interpersonal skills and a willingness to get hands-on to solve problems quickly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain an effective IT control environment, to ensure availability, security, and effectiveness of core systems.
- Oversee regular maintenance of existing network infrastructure and accurately diagnose network concerns.
- Monitor the effectiveness of communication solutions used within the business and make recommendations or changes as needed to meet business needs.
- Maintain and make recommendations to enhance the current networking solutions in terms of security and resilience.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date registers of network users.
- Maintain accurate registers of licenses for 3rd party software.
- Maintain network, fileservers, PC workstations, printers, routers, switches, modems, cabling, and Internet communications.
- Undertake root cause analysis and diagnosis of complex technical failures and identify appropriate remedies.
- Identify, plan, and budget for infrastructure usage across the business in line with changes in business need.
- Undertake accurate specification, evaluation, and costing of IT solutions.
- Accurately specify and engage with 3rd parties for the implementation of system and networking solutions as required.
- Oversee the effective and timely deployment of hardware within the organisation.
- Oversee the effective deployment of Office 365 across the business including the provision of email.
- Establish the organisation's Data Security policies.
- Manage the IT Support Technician and external consultants for the delivery of timely 1st and 2nd line support to users across the business in terms of hardware and software support.
