Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for project managing major changes within the NEC Group, working with all stakeholders and resources to deliver the objectives to time, cost and scope.
  • Manage communication of all risks and issues and make sure all stakeholders are up to date on progress at all stages.
  • Ensure Project planning is carried out to the required level and that all required resources are identified to the technical teams and that any resource clashes are escalated.
  • Manage documentation in line with the NEC Group’s standard methodology making sure recommendations for improvements are made to the Lead Project Manager as appropriate.
  • As part of the Delivery team support the Lead Project Manager in delivering a portfolio that meets expectations ensuring that any changes to constituent projects are identified as early as possible.
  • Manage production of required products as per project deliverables (including project control documents such as PID).
  • Responsible for overall project progress initiating corrective action where necessary.
  • Identify and manage process for project issues and risks, ensuring correct ownership and escalation as necessary.
  • Manage project budget and expenditure providing alerts when necessary to the project team.
  • Responsible for project administration such as the production and communication of project highlight/status reporting.

Skills and Experience:

  • Significant experience of project management in a multi project and multi business unit environment.
  • Experience of budget and expenditure management in a project environment.
  • Understands different Project Management methodologies such as Waterfall, Rapid Application Development, or Agile SCRUM; when these would be deployed and has managed projects to these standards.
  • Knowledge of various project management tools to develop a comprehensive project work plan such as Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Gantt and timeline diagrams, and resource schedules.
  • Knowledge of techniques such as the Critical Path Method (CPM) to assess and report on risks in project schedule; knowledge of corrective action steps to reduce risks and mitigate problems.

Strong management skills and ability in terms of:

  • Facilitation
  • Presentation creation and delivery
  • Problem identification, categorisation and solving
  • Stakeholder and Customer management
  • Coaching
  • Change management

The ability to establish, implement and manage processes and procedures covering configuration management, including Change Control, Risk & Issues Management, Documentation Management and Product Assurance.

The ability to establish and implement a team culture within a project.

Qualifications Required:

Bachelor’s degree (or higher) – OR - Significant professional work experience.
Recognised project management qualification and accreditation such as PRINCE2 Practitioner, MSP, PMI, APMP or Agile.
