How will you be making a difference?
IT Infrastructure & Security Management
- Manage and support IT systems, including Windows, Mac OS, Linux, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure).
- Work closely with the Infrastructure Engineer to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues, particularly related to servers, networking, and security.
- Ensure that devices and endpoints meet security standards, policies, and hardware configurations.
2nd Line IT Support (Server & Network Issues)
- Provide 2nd line support for IT-related issues, including server, network, and connectivity problems.
- Diagnose and resolve more complex issues escalated from the first line of support, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
- Support the management and maintenance of server hardware, network infrastructure, and related systems.
Patch Management & Vulnerability Remediation
- Oversee and manage patch management for operating systems, applications, and devices, ensuring timely deployment of security updates and patches.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and ensure remediation efforts are completed to reduce security risks.
- Track patch compliance across the organization and report on patching status and vulnerabilities.
Device Hardware Compliance & Conditional Access
- Ensure device hardware meets company security requirements and is compliant with established security policies.
- Manage Conditional Access policies within Microsoft Intune and Azure AD, ensuring that only compliant devices are allowed to access corporate resources.
- Work with security tools like Defender for Endpoint to enforce endpoint compliance and security configurations.
Security Incident & Event Management
- Respond to security incidents related to devices and endpoints, ensuring compliance with internal security policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to resolve issues and investigate potential breaches or vulnerabilities.
Collaboration on IT Projects
- Work with the Infrastructure Engineer and cross-functional teams to deliver IT projects while ensuring security best practices are integrated throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in the deployment of new IT solutions and ensure they are configured in a secure manner, complying with corporate security policies.
Monitoring & Reporting
- Regularly monitor endpoint compliance and device health using tools like Microsoft Intune and Defender for Endpoint.
- Provide regular reports on device compliance, patching status, and security incidents to management.
Documentation & Best Practices
- Document system configurations, patching processes, security incident responses, and device compliance procedures.
- Stay informed about emerging security threats, vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements to continuously improve security measures.
The successful applicant will also be asked to perform other duties on an ad-hoc basis and will need a proactive attitude to this.
Essential Qualifications/skills/experience
IT Systems & Security Management
- Strong experience in managing and supporting Windows and Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment.
- Experience with Microsoft Intune, Defender for Endpoint, and Azure AD to enforce security and compliance on endpoints and devices.
- Expertise in managing patch management tools and vulnerability scanning tools.
2nd Line Support (Server & Network)
- Proven experience in 2nd line support, including troubleshooting and resolving server, network, and connectivity issues.
- Familiarity with network protocols, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and other network troubleshooting tools.
- Experience supporting server hardware, operating systems, and network infrastructure.
Device Hardware Compliance & Conditional Access
- Experience with device hardware compliance and ensuring that devices meet corporate security requirements.
- Familiarity with conditional access policies using Intune and Azure AD.
Security Practices
- In-depth understanding of security principles, frameworks, and endpoint security measures.
- Experience with endpoint protection solutions and ensuring device compliance through security configurations.
Collaborative Problem-Solving
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly when it comes to diagnosing IT security issues, server/network issues, and resolving device compliance or patching problems.
- Ability to work effectively alongside the Infrastructure Engineer to deliver IT solutions and projects.
Compliance & Reporting
- Proven ability to monitor and manage device compliance across the organization.
- Experience with generating compliance and security reports for senior management.
Useful Qualifications/skills/experience
Cloud & Hybrid Environments
- Experience managing cloud infrastructure and securing cloud-based systems.
- Knowledge of hybrid IT environments and integration of on-premises systems with cloud services.
Security Certification
- CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, CISM, or similar certifications are highly desirable.
- Other relevant certifications in cloud security, endpoint protection, or vulnerability management.
Scripting & Automation
- Familiarity with scripting languages to automate patch management, device compliance checks, and security configurations.
Knowledge of ITIL
- Familiarity with ITIL or similar frameworks for IT service management.
Additional information:
You will have the flexibility to work between your home and our office locations in Malvern and Bristol, requiring a minimum of two days a week in the Malvern office.
