Job Description:

Salary Scale: £46,359- £60,000 per annum

What is the purpose of this job?

  1. To provide a professional, high standard and effective IT & Digital Procurement management function for Rail Delivery Group (RDG). Candidates will be expected to work on other categories as required.
  2. To provide IT & Digital procurement, as well as general procurement and contract/supplier management advice to the organisation.
  3. To manage and deliver procurement and related activity to ensure that RDG meets its business objectives and contractual obligations.
  4. To identify and manage risks that may arise through procurement activity and implement robust financial and operational controls.

What can I expect to do in this job?

  1. Plan, manage and deliver IT & Digital, as well as other categories, competitive tenders via RDG’s eSourcing portal.
  2. Support the IT & Digital Senior Procurement Manager in the planning and management of compliant frameworks/DPS’s.
  3. Support the business with procurement related activities such as reviewing and approving contracts.
  4. Lead or assist with procurement and contract negotiations to ensure competitive terms.
  5. Provide support to Senior Procurement Managers as required.
  6. Provide advice to Senior Responsible Officers (SROs)/project managers on procurement practices.
  7. Assist in maintaining the contracts database for RDG.
  8. Work with RDG’s Legal team to agree updates to contract and procurement documentation.
  9. Work with RDG’s Finance team to ensure adherence to broader finance and risk requirements.
  10. Ensure that signed contracts are communicated to all relevant parties.

  • The Architecture teams.
  • The Service Delivery teams.
  • Project managers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), SROs and other colleagues involved in procurement.

  • Department for Transport (DfT), Great British Railways Transition Team (GBRTT) and Network Rail (NR).
  • Suppliers and advisors.

Requirements:

  1. Educated to Degree Level or have relevant Contract & Procurement management experience.
  2. MCIPS qualified or working towards qualification.
  3. Knowledge of English contract law, and UK/EU/Government procurement regulation.
  4. Knowledge and understanding of accounts of commercial organisations.
  5. Knowledge of the rail industry sector.
  6. Experience in an IT & Digital Procurement role.
  7. Experience of supplier relationship and contract management.
  8. Able to use Microsoft Office products proficiently.
  9. Strongly analytical, with well-developed problem-solving skills.
  10. Experience of working and adhering to Public Sector Procurement Legislation.
