Job summary
This post is Fixed term/Secondment for 7 months until 31/12/25 due to maternity cover.
To provide clients with an independent and objective specialist Digital/IM&T audit and I.T. consultancy service that provides valuable recommendations for compliance and improvement across a range of relevant computerised systems.
This may include taking lead responsibility for a portfolio of clients, and be based upon the delivery of a computer audit work that complies with mandatory Public Sector Internal Audit Standards and best professional practice.
To undertake more complex operational, IT governance and risk based audits across Information Technology based services designed to form an opinion, for reporting to management, on the effectiveness of controls and on the effective use of resources within our client's systems.
To supervise junior staff with guidance to deliver the above service, and provide ad-hoc advice to other managers and general audit staff, where required.
To assist the IM&T Audit manager in developing and aligning the IT Strategy within the Audit & Assurance business plan.
Main duties of the job
- Support the IM&T Audit Manager in the planning and provision of a professional computer audit service to a portfolio of nominated clients that meets Public Sector Internal Audit mandatory and best practice standards.
- Discuss and agree audit findings, recommendations and suggested solutions as appropriate, together with implementation timescales and local responsibilities. The specialist computer audit role seeks to recommend adaptations to information systems in order to meet organisation objectives.
- Attend, on occasion when IM&T Audit Manager is not available, Audit Committees with the nominated Head of Internal Audit where technical IM&T input is requested.
- Liaise with Audit Managers/ Head of Internal Audit to advise on any implications on the Head of Internal Audit opinion statement remitting from computer audit assignments.
- Undertake consultancy work (additional to the annual computer audit plan) as required by clients. This may include acting as a consultant.
- Provide practical and cost effective advice, both written and verbal, to clients on operational and strategic I.T. matters as and when requested, including where required the development of policies and procedures.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- CIS, CISSP or QiCA certified or significant relevant experience which demonstrates equivalent technical knowledge, or CISA/CISSA exam passed and progressing towards experience requirements.
Desirable- PRINCE2 Foundation or Practitioner level
- ITIL Foundation or Practitioner
ExperienceEssential- Significant experience working in an IM&T Audit or relevant role.
- Experience in IM&T project management
- Experience in IM&T security related role.
