Job description

DPS Technology Group is a well-established, business-focused ICT company based in Suffolk. As an HP and Microsoft partner, DPS offers best of breed products and solutions for the SME sector. Operating both remotely and on-site, DPS supplies installations and continues to support its customers with high-quality products and services, both physical and in the cloud. We take system security seriously and can assist with most Information and Communication Technology.

This is a full-time, office-based position located primarily in Ipswich. While prior IT experience is preferred, it is not essential. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn and eager to expand their knowledge in IT. The candidate should be able to take instruction, work independently, communicate effectively internally and externally, and develop problem-solving skills, along with the ability to handle basic IT support scenarios confidently. The role involves generally assisting the Support Team.

In this role, you’ll work towards your Level 3 IT Support Apprenticeship, delivered by our expert training team at Baltic Apprenticeships.

A Typical Day in the Job:

  • Respond to support queries via phone and email.
  • Log customer requests and incidents in the system.
  • Diagnose and resolve IT issues for end users.
  • Install and maintain IT hardware, including laptops, desktops, and mobile devices.
  • Assist with managing cloud environments, such as Microsoft 365.
  • Set up user accounts, manage profiles, and handle password-related issues.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers on escalated support tickets.
  • Escalate calls to third-party providers when necessary.
  • Complete administrative tasks and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Keep detailed records of site information using IT Service Management tools.

Full training and support will be provided by your workplace mentor and from the Baltic team.

Salary, Hours & Benefits:

  • £14,750 per annum
  • Monday to Friday 9am – 5:30pm with a 1-hour lunch
  • Birthday off work
  • Opportunity for overtime at weekends and performance/achievement related bonuses

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

  • Grade 4 in Maths and 5 in English is essential for this role
  • Strong customer service skills and confident communication abilities
  • Enthusiastic, eager to learn, and a team player
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office applications like Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with setting up and configuring PCs, laptops, and tablets
