Job Title: Product Design Engineer

Location: Glasgow

About the Role:
Our client, an award-winning product and engineering design consultancy, is seeking an experienced Product Design Engineer to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects across sectors such as medical devices, scientific instruments, healthcare, and consumer products. The successful candidate will take products from concept to manufacturing in collaboration with clients ranging from startups to multinational corporations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop product concepts and prototypes.
2. Design and analyze mechanical, electro-mechanical, and optical components.
3. Use 3D CAD tools (preferably SolidWorks) for structural design.
4. Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers.
5. Conduct formal product testing and create design documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

1. Degree in Mechanical or Product Design Engineering.
2. 3-5 years' experience in product design and manufacturing, ideally in a consultancy environment.
3. Proficiency in 3D CAD, plastic moulding, and sheet metal design.
4. Experience in motion control systems, thermal/structural analysis, and project management is a plus.

Key Skills:

1. Strong mechanical design and problem-solving skills.
2. Knowledge of design for manufacturing and rapid prototyping.
3. Ability to manage multiple projects and collaborate effectively.
