The Role: Investment Manager Oversight Analyst

The Manager Oversight Team is the specialist Investment Due Diligence Team that sits within the Investment Office, which is the in-house discretionary asset manager currently for the legacy Pru UK's assets. The team's main responsibility involves Manager Research and Selection which involves conducting investment due diligence on all investment managers that are currently invested with and selecting new investment managers that could be used. This role is meaningfully different to traditional fund research / selection roles - what sets us apart is how we look to cover the wide-ranging investment manager capabilities with an unwavering focus on what drives our clients' outcomes and ensure our due diligence is focused in the right areas.

You will work closely with all members of the Manager Oversight Team and collaborate with other teams within the Investment Office while maintain ongoing contact with all managers as per the role's requirements. The location is at M&G plc's headquarters (10 FA) and the role gives the opportunity of joining a growing team and becoming part of a brand with a global reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Heavily contribute to the overall investment due diligence effort including incorporating ESG and Sustainable Investment factors
• Build and maintain investment universes all major investment manager universes (across equities, fixed income - public and private, property, alternatives, and multi-asset) with specific focus on the type of investment approach (Traditional, Thematics, ESG and Sustainable Investing, Impact)
• Identify top quartile propositions across all investment manager universes, by asset class and by investment approach incorporating ESG and Sustainable Investment factors
• Conduct ongoing detailed investment due diligence on all identified top quartile propositions
• Conduct market and economic research across asset classes to inform due diligence views
• Build expertise in certain asset class universes and look to enhance investment due diligence effort without deviating overall Investment Due Diligence Framework
• Build strong investment manager relationships across the business and in the broader investment manager community
• Provide support to the distribution teams in Pru based on manager views and underlying fund/ strategy knowledge

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Strong experience in fund research/ investment due diligence role, with experience across all major asset class groups (but ideally public equities and / or fixed income at a minimum)
• CFA or equivalent qualification preferred but not required
• High proficiency in both written and spoken English with strong communication skills in both internal and external (companies and clients) environments
• Be a team player with ability to work with colleagues from different functions and business units, and in a culturally diverse environment
• Have the ability to analyse financial information to provide quantitative and qualitative analysis
• Adopt innovative thinking and the ability to work with investment opportunities in new sectors or jurisdictions
• Proactive nature - willingness to read widely (FT, business publications), consider companies / industries / products as part of daily life, and taking this information suggest potential investment ideas/areas of future analysis
• Ability to work in a small team environment with an emphasis on frequent and informal communication.
