Equity Investment Analyst, GuardCap Asset Management

We are seeking an additional person to join a highly experienced and successful team to assist with company research/selection and portfolio management.

The GuardCap Team

GuardCap has approximately USD 10 billion AUM (February 2025). We employ an established, disciplined investment process with rigorous risk management. We are long only, long-term investors in high quality, sustainably growing companies. Turnover in the portfolio is extremely low. High return on invested capital, low balance sheet leverage and a sustainable competitive advantage are among our key investment criteria. The investment team, currently 8 people, have an average of 22 years of experience. Our collaborative and inclusive culture is designed to generate alpha for our clients. The Investment Analyst’s Responsibilities

1. Analyse companies and generate investment ideas. The successful candidate should be disciplined and willing to work within the framework of the team’s investment process. Coverage responsibilities will span geographies and industries.
2. Perform thorough fundamental analysis of a company’s business and financial position and work on the construction of financial models as well as other sector and market research including visiting companies and their senior management.
3. Develop and communicate investment recommendations.

Candidate Requirements

1. At least 3 years’ experience in company analysis. This is likely to have been in the buy-side, sell side, investment banking, management consultancy or accountancy professions.
2. An affinity for and understanding of ESG principles.
3. Experience of European and Japanese companies would be an advantage.
4. Strong financial modelling skills.
5. Highly developed analytical skills with the ability to think critically and in a considered manner.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Degree educated and likely to have or be studying for a CFA qualification or similar.
8. Self-starter, but with the ability to work effectively as part of a broader team.
9. Clear motivation to work in a buy side team and follow the team’s disciplined approach to investing.
10. Patience.
11. Sense of humour.
