What is the opportunity?
Mizuho operates a Three Lines of Defence approach to risk management with Internal Audit forming the third (and last) line. Internal Audit operates independently to assess the effectiveness of key first and second line control processes.
The Data Analytics (DA) team are responsible for managing the delivery of IADE's DA programme which consists of leading audit engagements, developing specialised solutions to enhance risk assessment and continuous monitoring capabilities, leveraging advanced analytics techniques to identify anomalies and control exceptions, maintaining and enhancing DA architecture and technologies, identifying and implementing opportunities for automation to drive audit efficiency and promoting a data-driven culture within IADE. The DA programme covers all business areas and corporate functions within scope, including Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) activities, as well as supporting EMEA regional audit teams.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead and support DA audit engagements by conducting planning, fieldwork and reporting phases.
  • Execute, evaluate and report on DA testing results effectively and write-up findings in a clear and concise manner in audit reports.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of the DA audit plan, strategy and methodology.
  • Develop data visualisation dashboards and reports to enable emerging risk identification and management reporting.
  • Utilise DA to continuously monitor key risk indicators and control effectiveness and develop automated risk assessment and monitoring tools.
  • Collaborate with functional audit teams to deliver tailored solutions supporting their DA requirements and audit approach.
  • Maintain positive and productive relationships both internally and with wider business stakeholders.
  • Perform data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL) from internal and external data sources.
  • Analyse datasets to generate insights such as anomalies, irregularities and trends that could indicate risk concerns or control deficiencies.
  • Manage DA related projects such as enhancements to the data architecture, implementation of relevant IT infrastructure, on-boarding of latest analytics technologies and solutions, etc.
  • Develop solutions to automate controls testing to optimise audit efficiency.
  • Coordinate with external consultants and SMEs to ensure that IADE are adopting industry best practice and techniques in relation to DA.
  • Support with augmentation of Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the audit lifecycle for improved efficiency and capabilities.
  • Provide training and support to the DA team as well as the wider internal audit team on the use of data analytics tools and techniques.
  • Assist with embedding DA coverage over Corporate and Investment Banking activities and EMEA regional audit teams.
  • Timely and accurate completion of administrative tasks as assigned.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Professional Qualification such as ACA or equivalent
  • Experience in Internal Audit Data Analytics, preferably within banking and financial services
  • Product knowledge - Corporate Loans, FX, Rates, Credit, and Equities
  • High proficiency in DA tools (SQL, Python, Power BI, VBA, Tableau, Alteryx etc)
  • Exposure to Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Effective communication skills to all levels of the business
  • Great organisational and time management skills
  • Demonstrate ability to innovate, support change and solve problems
  • Motivate the team to deliver tasks to a high standard
  • Coach, mentor and develop the team in a positive and constructive manner
