Interim General Counsel - Strategic Joint Venture

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced interim lawyer to shape and develop the Office of General Counsel (OGC) as it navigates growth and change in an evolving business. The role requires both strategic vision and hands-on execution, as well as a willingness to engage in both high-level decision-making and practical problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strategic & Practical Leadership: Support joint venture shareholders and senior leadership in executing the business plan and driving growth, covering key corporate and governance matters.
• Team Leadership: Build, lead, and inspire a high-performing global Legal team across the US and UK.
• Collaboration & Governance: Work closely with shareholder Legal teams on corporate governance and regulatory matters, engaging external counsel where necessary.
• Budgeting: Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and company secretarial matters.
• Compliance: Oversee areas such as health & safety, employment law, and compliance.
• Operations & Programme Office: Drive functional projects and business improvement initiatives.

This role offers an exceptional chance to lead within a dynamic joint venture, making a tangible impact on both strategic direction and operational execution.

Ideally, you will be a UK qualified lawyer with previous experience working as a General Counsel in the insurance, reinsurance, or broader financial services sector. You will also be available to start at short notice.

As the first legal hire in this venture, you will engage in a broad range of legal work. Given the ongoing expansion, this role is initially offered as a contract running through the end of 2025.
