Interim Chief People Officer

MLC Partners
London
Job description

Want to make a difference?

Our client is a highly regarded NHS Trust which provides care to 1.8 million people and has 7,500 permanent employees. This is an Interim CPO position for 12 months covering a maternity leave.

This is a full executive and board position with voting rights reporting to the CEO.

We are looking for a talented individual who has a successful track record of devising and implementing people strategies which collaboratively engage staff and partners. You are able to work across organisational boundaries within two integrated care systems (ICS) and inspire others with credibility gained by your depth of professional expertise, creative thinking and pragmatic approach.

The organisation is undergoing a challenging period given the scale of the financial challenges. However, this is also an exciting period as it brings the opportunity to improve services for our patients, service users and the experience of our staff. We are looking for a values-driven, motivational leader to support our people. This post holder will be critical to ensure our valued staff are delivering to the best of their abilities during the transformational phases.

Most importantly, it will be key that you share our values to make a positive difference to people's lives.

Essential Criteria:

  • Executive leadership
  • Affective strategic influencing skills to network and influence effectively internally and externally at senior levels
  • In-depth knowledge and experience of HR acquired through training and experience
  • Able to demonstrate an absolute customer focus with a genuine commitment to the continuous improvement of quality care for service users and carers.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and human resource management best practice.
  • Able to establish effective work relationships internal and external. Excellent leadership, negotiation, empowerment and advocacy skills

Making Things Better

Quality Improvement is a key part of our work to improve our services and refine how we do things. We have a global reputation for our quality improvement work and we don’t stand still! So we offer a fantastic opportunity for our staff to learn, lead and contribute towards improving our services.

We launched our Five Year Strategy in April 2018, which identified four main strategic outcomes to improve: population health outcomes, experience of care, staff experience and improve value. This complements the NHS Long Term Strategy and sets out our direction of travel.
