Job description

Intelligence Officer

The charity is tackling the greatest threats working donkeys face locally and around the world, from the donkey skin trade to challenges working animals face in disasters.

We have an excellent opportunity for a highly proactive, self-motivated and professional team player to join the collaborative global department focused on influencing change, using campaigning and public affairs tactics at an exciting point of growth in this influencing work.

Position: 1907 Intelligence Officer

Location: Devon/hybrid working (applications for fully remote/home working and flexible working patterns welcomed)

Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week, 08.30-16.30, Monday-Friday

Salary: GBP30,509 per annum

Contract: Permanent

Closing date: Tuesday 6th April 2025. However, we reserve the right to close this role early if a suitable candidate is found.

About the Role

As Intelligence Officer, your primary focus will be to maintain and update the charity's trade tracker dashboard with up-to-date intel and data on the global donkey skin trade. You will analyse trends and communicate relevant intel pro-actively with internal and external stakeholders through concise and informative trade alerts and reports, while building and managing crucial relationships. This role provides essential support to the delivery of the skin trade campaign strategy.

Principal duties include:

  1. Maintaining, updating and analysing the trade tracker dashboard.
  2. Tracking legal, trade, or policy changes globally that impact the donkey skin trade or animal welfare more broadly.
  3. Creating visually compelling reports to present complex trade data to diverse audiences effectively.
  4. Playing an active and motivated role in the Skins campaign, ensuring the campaign strategy is consistently and effectively supported to deliver our aim of ensuring no donkeys will suffer through a global trade in donkey skins.
  5. Contributing to policy briefings and advocacy efforts aimed at influencing decision-makers and stakeholders to address the global donkey skin trade.
  6. Collaborating with the Risk Team to assess risks and/or vulnerabilities related to the global donkey skin trade to better inform organisational strategies and responses.
  7. Collaborating across the organisation and with global partners in order to support the activities of the Skins campaign and with the Communications and Content Departments to support relevant global content.

About You

You will need to bring with you the following skills and experience:

  1. Excellent research and analytical skills, together with a proven ability to analyse data and look for connections.
  2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and proven experience of working and communicating internationally with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  3. Experience of working with databases and data inputting.
  4. Excellent IT skills including Word, Outlook, internet, Excel.
  5. Comfortable and confident in operating in new, uncertain and complex situations.
  6. Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships internationally with internal and external stakeholders.
  7. Strong organisational and prioritising skills, together with the ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail whilst dealing with a number of conflicting demands.
