Instrument Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION

Wood is recruiting for an Instrument / Operations Technician on a core basis for Harbour Jasmine. The ideal candidate will be a time-served Instrument Technician with the desire to develop into Operations alongside.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Instrumentation & control technicians are responsible for the assembly, installation, removal and replacement,
disassembly, test functionality and operability, maintenance and repair of instrumentation systems and their
associated system components. Such systems can be of an electronic, electro-mechanical or pneumatic
technology which may be used to indicate, record and control a wide variety of equipment, plant and machinery.
An integral aspect of the instrumentation & control technician is the ability to locate and identify faults in a timely
manner to restore plant and equipment to acceptable conditions. The wide range of possible equipment and
systems also require a good knowledge of, and the ability to effectively use, an equally wide range of test and
measuring equipment. Instrumentation & control technicians typically need a good understanding of engineering
theory, the functions of components within systems and the effect on system operation of failure.

Key responsibilities include:

3. Work within an overall risk control strategy developed by safety specialists, including criteria for identifying risks.

5. Follow procedures and relevant codes of standard with integrity and complete actions and documents accurately.
6. Report instances where procedures cannot be met or where a variation is required.
7. Deal promptly and effectively with problems within their control.
8. Supervise and mentor others where appropriate.
9. Coordinate work scopes and SIMOPS effectively within a wider team.
10. Demonstrate effective handover of responsibility and equipment.
11. Take responsibility for personal development and set targets for achievement.
12. Support operational requirements, achieve targets, and maintain records.
13. Maintain compliance with legislative requirements and company policies, procedures and standards.
14. Maintain ongoing technical competence and skill set to current standards.
15. Support innovation and development for improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

The instrumentation & control technician will:

1. Have the required competencies to assemble, install, carry out preventative maintenance, repair, diagnose faults and remove and replace instrumentation and control systems.
2. Understand relevant legislative, regulatory and local requirements, including reporting lines and procedures.
3. Read and interpret relevant engineering drawings, specifications, quality standards, and equipment manuals.
4. Understand tools and equipment usage, and follow relevant training and safety procedures.
5. Ensure the care and security of tools and equipment.
6. Identify types of defects and testing anomalies and take appropriate action.
7. Diagnose function and test equipment on return to service.
8. Handle a range of digital information and technology to support work-related tasks.

Production qualifications are an advantage but not essential.
