Inpatient/Medical Veterinary Surgeon - Dewsbury


• Fantastic opportunity at a RCVS accredited small animal hospital in the popular market town of Dewsbury
• State-of-the-art facility with advanced imaging modalities such as x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, CT, and visiting MRI
• Six of their vets currently pursuing certificates in surgery, imaging, dermatology, medicine, ECC, and ophthalmology
• Superb salary up to £60,000


A remarkable opportunity has arisen for a veterinary surgeon with a keen interest in medicine and inpatient care to join a well-regarded RCVS-accredited small animal hospital in the picturesque market town of Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. This modern, purpose-built hospital has a long-standing reputation for excellence in animal care and has recently undergone a significant upgrade, including an expanded waiting room, seven new consulting rooms, a dedicated nurse's treatment room, and a separate pharmacy.


The hospital provides an extensive range of services, including high-quality primary care such as consultations, preventative healthcare, vaccinations, routine and laparoscopic surgery, dentistry, and advanced imaging modalities such as x-ray, ultrasound, endoscopy, CT, and visiting MRI. It also offers middle-tier referrals in soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, ophthalmology, exotic animal care, and dermatology. Additionally, the facility features a state-of-the-art rehabilitation centre providing physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, and laser therapy. With its own dedicated ECC night team, the hospital ensures 24-hour on-site emergency care, welcoming referrals from across Yorkshire.


The role focuses on examining patients, creating care plans, and communicating effectively with clients while coordinating with colleagues for imaging, investigative, or surgical procedures. It also involves overseeing the handover of patient care to the night team and may include handling emergencies when necessary. This position would be ideal for a recent graduate with an interest in medicine, offering ample development opportunities under the mentorship of experienced professionals.


The team across all hospital sites is supportive and collaborative, with six of their vets currently pursuing certificates in surgery, imaging, dermatology, medicine, ECC, and ophthalmology. The Rota:
• Full time role (part time applications welcome)
• 3 days per week (7.45 am-8.15 pm) Mon-Wed
• 1:4 weekends (Opportunity to be full-time if preferred)
