Infrastructure Project Manager
Albany Beck are hiring for a highly skilled Infrastructure Project Manager to work onsite with one of our largest Banking clients, to lead the successful delivery of end-of-life (EOL) infrastructure upgrades. This role requires expertise in managing complex back-end infrastructure projects, including storage, blades, networks, and operating systems. The successful candidate will also have experience in managing large vendors and delivering projects through third-party providers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead infrastructure projects, ensuring timely delivery, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Oversee end-of-life (EOL) upgrades across various infrastructure components, including storage, blades, networks, and operating systems.
- Manage large vendors (e.g., Kyndryl, IBM) and drive successful project delivery through third-party providers.
- Responsible for developing, in conjunction with the Project Sponsor, a definition of the project(s) and ensuring the project is effectively resourced, controlled and communicated.
- Responsible and accountable for the delivery of one or more projects which report into a wider Portfolio of change.
- Responsible for managing relationships with a wide range of stakeholders (including all project contributors).
- Responsible for managing the work of project team members in an efficient manner and maintaining a co-operative, motivated and successful team.
- Responsible for detailed project reporting and governance adherence
- Define and manage project scope, objectives, timelines, and budgets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Ensure compliance with governance frameworks and industry best practices.
- Identify, mitigate, and manage project risks and issues.
- Provide clear and concise project reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project execution.
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery and vendor management processes.
Experience & Qualifications:
Essential:
- Proven experience delivering complex infrastructure projects, particularly EOL upgrades.
- Proven experience working within Financial Services (Ideally Investment Banking).
- Strong technical understanding of back-end infrastructure, including storage, blades, networks, and operating systems.
- Experience managing large vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver projects through third-party providers.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to project challenges.
- Experience in a structured project management environment with strong governance.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies.
Desirable:
- Experience in financial services or other regulated environments.
- Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
- Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure solutions.
Certifications:
- Formal training or certification in Project Management Certification (MSP/PRINCE2/PMI/APM/SIX SIGMA)
- Professional PM accreditation (Prince 2, PMI, APM etc.)
