Information Governance Assistant – Police Staff – Compliance and Assurance – Counter Terrorism Policing HQ

The Counter Terrorism Police Headquarters (CTPHQ) Information Governance Team is a unit that sits within the Compliance and Assurance Pillar. The purpose of the unit is to assist in the strategic management and delivery of data compliance and governance. The Information Governance Unit is responsible for providing advice and guidance on data protection compliance issues across the CT Policing Network and MPS SO Command.

The Information Governance Unit responsibilities include: Data Protection Act requests and queries; Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and Data Sharing Agreements (DSA), ensuring agreements comply with data regulations and underpin legislation, whilst still enabling effective collaboration with CT Policing partner organisations.

Your role will be responsible for providing advice and guidance on all matters relating to data compliance across the CT Policing Network, promoting best practice and providing a consistent approach to data compliance. You will also identify, advise & support the development of all Data Sharing Agreements and Data Protection Impact Assessments between CT Policing and partners, as well as managing the Data Compliance Board to develop compliance across the CT Policing Network and manage compliance risks.

Responsibilities

  1. Collate, review and advise the business on the Data Protection Impact Assessments screening question process
  2. Work with colleagues to collate and advise the business on data protection queries
  3. Proactively engage with the business and key stakeholders to ensure all data compliance issues are managed in accordance with legal and statutory requirements
  4. Work with the business to embed best practice and ensure data protection standards are maintained
  5. Ensure all sharing arrangements and data protection impact assessments are centrally held and annually reviewed in line with CT Policing Policy
  6. Maintain and develop the Information Governance register
  7. Support review of IGU documentation and toolkits annually
  8. Facilitate and manage Data Protection Governance Board
  9. Manage IGU risk register and ensure appropriate escalation to the governance boards
