About the Role

This role is Information Analyst in the Public Health Intelligence team (maternity cover, fixed term for a year). It is an exciting time to be joining our Health Intelligence team as we continue to develop the range of analytical support that we offer to Public Health colleagues and collaborate with analysts across the Council and in partner organisations. The Information Analyst role contributes to surveillance and monitoring and supports needs assessments, service design and commissioning. You will be delivering high quality data analysis and helping to develop reports, dashboards and other online data resources. You will also play a key role in the development of statutory statistical collections such as the Director of Public Health Annual Report and the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.

Main duties of the job
  1. Source, compile and analyse data in order to produce and present reports in compliance with council strategy and policy e.g. performance reports and statutory and regulatory returns.
  2. Contribute to the process of data collection and reporting in relation to statutory returns, ensuring that deadlines are met.
  3. Support internal and external customers in their use of information and ensure that information requests are met in a timely way.
  4. Support and encourage the delivery of the best quality records. Audit data quality of information reports and produce audit lists for submitted returns.
  5. Provide locally defined reports for planning and performance management to support teams including locality profiles, analysis, and mapping in order to plan services and measure their success.
  6. Offer support and guidance to customers in an efficient and effective way on data related topics to ensure they can use and understand the information provided.
  7. Prepare public health data for the JSNA, keeping published information up to date.
  8. Liaise with key internal, external and voluntary sector stakeholders to identify key additional indicators for the JSNA.
  9. Manage queries received through shared team health intelligence request process.
  10. Maintain awareness of changing government guidance, council structures and other key factors in order to amend reports and databases as appropriate.
  11. Work closely with other data teams within and outside the County Council in order to provide a holistic data picture in line with service delivery needs.
  12. Support the development of databases and related tools to improve the efficiency, accuracy and effectiveness of information.
  13. Ensure that all information complies with the data protection standards. Liaise with a range of external professional bodies, local authorities and other departments of the Council to ensure that we are aware of, and compliant with, reporting requirements and operate best practice.
  14. Maintain and develop effective systems for the safe, secure and accurate, collection, storage, transfer, analysis and reporting of services.
  15. Liaise with government departments, such as the DfE, Ofsted, NHS Digital regarding the submission of statutory returns.
  16. Any other duties as may be deemed necessary to carry out the full remit of the role.

Are you passionate about improving health outcomes for the people of Oxfordshire? We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual to take up a role in our dynamic Public Health team. You will have excellent written, numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills and a strong eye for detail. You will have made extensive use of excel spreadsheets, databases and a range of reporting tools and you are able to talk a range of audiences through the key findings from your work and the limitations of any analysis. A good understanding of the role of Public Health and local government will be advantageous. Full training will be provided on the councils systems and data platforms.
