Industrial Service Technician

Shift Patterns:

3 days ON and 2 days OFF

Non-peak : 12:00 to 22:00 Monday to Friday / 12:00 to 21:30 Saturday - Sunday

Peak: 12 hours shift as per peak rota

Annual Salary of £32,000

People Solutions are currently recruiting for two Industrial Service Technicians to join our well-established client based in Tamworth, Staffordshire on a full-time permanent basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity offering an amazing annual salary and room to grow and progress.

You will work closely with the HSE & Facilities Manager and the wider team to ensure the site operates efficiently and safely.

This direct role (70% practical, 30% administrative) involves maintaining equipment, troubleshooting issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site performance.

Day to Day Duties

  • Equipment Maintenance & Repairs: Perform routine maintenance, fault finding, and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and automated systems, ensuring all work complies with current legislation and safety standards.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Plan, schedule, and execute preventative maintenance to minimise downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Automated Systems Oversight: Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot automated conveyance systems, SCADA, and industrial control systems to ensure optimal efficiency.
  • Compliance & Safety: Conduct regular safety inspections, maintain compliance records, and ensure all maintenance work aligns with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Spares & Inventory Management: Track spare parts usage and ensure critical components are readily available to prevent operational delays.
  • Contractor & Project Coordination: Liaise with external contractors for specialised repairs, supervise work, and ensure necessary permits and risk assessments are in place.
  • Process Improvement & Cost Control: Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives, drive efficiency improvements, and support LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Material Flow & Uptime: Collaborate with operational managers to ensure seamless material flow, maximise plant productivity, and reduce downtime.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work outside standard hours during peak periods or urgent maintenance situations.

Essential Skills

  • Experience in a maintenance, engineering, or technical role within an automated, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills, with knowledge of automated systems, SCADA, PLCs, or similar industrial controls.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Familiarity with preventative maintenance strategies and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations, ideally with an IOSH qualification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, promoting a positive work environment.
  • Experience in project management or leading maintenance improvements is a plus.

Desirable Experience

  • Previous experience within a FMCG/Logistics/Distribution is desirable
