Job Description:

Our Industrial Placements are open to university students who are looking to complete a 12-month industrial placement in their third year of university. Our placements offer students the opportunity to gain real work experience in an area of our business. You will build commercial acumen and technical expertise through practical, first-hand experience in the front line of our business operations. We’re looking for students who have a passion for logistics and want to gain real-life experience in a fast-paced and complex logistics environment. Your Role

You will be working within the Perishables team responsible for providing an International Export and Import service to our customers, moving Perishable cargo around the world just in time. You will engage with various departments and work on projects absorbing knowledge and skills through mentorship and on-the-job training. Throughout your placement, you will contribute to the achievement of organisational goals by providing fresh perspectives and ideas while collaborating with industry professionals. This experience not only enhances your academic learning but also helps build key skills such as communication and teamwork, preparing you for future career aspirations.

Your Responsibilities

Over the 12-month programme you’ll be learning how to:

1. Receive and process customer bookings to ensure customer requirements are met.
2. Make carrier bookings on behalf of the customers to meet customer timelines.
3. Complete Export and Import Customs Entries for goods to clear HMRC.
4. Participate in customer and supplier meetings.
5. Process customer invoicing.
6. Understand warehouse processes and how they link with customer expectations.
7. Participate in key focus area projects when required.
8. Build strong, collaborative relationships with our customers, putting their best interests at the forefront of everything we do, delivering consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.
9. Review and optimise all processes to deliver volume utilisation and cost reductions.

Your Skills and Experiences

The minimum entry requirement for this placement is to be currently enrolled in a degree program with the option for a third-year placement. Our company values candidates who are passionate about providing excellent customer service, have a strong work ethic, and are able to communicate effectively with others. Good planning and organization skills are important, and you will need the ability to multitask and be a self-starter. Previous use of Microsoft Outlook and Excel is beneficial.

SECURITY VETTING: This position requires enhanced security clearance checks, and by applying for this role, you are agreeing to participate in the employment screening process. This process will include criminal record checking and identity validation. Any appointment will be strictly conditional upon and subject to the receipt of satisfactory results of these checks.

Key Information:

• Placement Contract: 8th September 2025 – 10th September 2026

• Working hours: 0900 – 1730 (Flexible Approach) 37.5 hours per week

• Working type: onsite full time.

• Salary: £24,000

Recruitment Process:

1. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

3. A final shortlist of candidates will be invited to an interview onsite with two members of the hiring team.
4. All candidates will receive telephone feedback after their interviews, and if offered, will be invited to return to the office for a further site tour and to provide right to work documentation.
